Why are New Yorkers fleeing?
The escape from New York is fueled not only by coronavirus concerns but economic worries, school chaos, and rising crime, experts say. Of course, the pandemic and fear of the virus has ultimately been the driving force behind the exodus out of the city. In addition, crime rates have risen in the past 8 months and many are highly concerned by this. Lastly, economic concerns such as rising taxes has also fueled these moves. Factor in the ability to work remotely for many, and this has opened the door for many more people to consider a relocation.
Where are New Yorkers moving to?
A majority of New Yorkers changing zip codes have moved to the suburbs within the New York or New Jersey areas.
