A tropical climate, beautiful beaches, and even certain freedoms in recent history have been significant factors that attract many Americans to relocate to The Sunshine State. With this said, an overall lower cost of living has also been a significant driver in the recent population shift. A significant part of this includes the lack of a state income tax and the amount of property taxes typically paid. A recent LendingTree study shed some light on the top 50 metro cities across the country in terms of their respective property tax rates.
How do Florida metro cities rank?
Four Florida metro cities were included in the rankings. Not surprisingly, these four cities included Miami, Orlando, Jacksonville, and Tampa. Ranked from lowest to highest, these Florida metro cities ranked as follows:
- #11. Tampa, FL: $1,406 (average amount)
- #12. Jacksonville, FL: $1,575 (average amount)
- #14. Orlando, FL: $1,744 (average amount)
- #24. Miami, FL: $2,481 (average amount)
Summary
This study is quite eye-opening as it underscores the fact that Florida ranks quite competitively in terms of the average property taxes paid. With this said, it is certainly not surprising why many Americans from more expensive markets are flocking to The Sunshine State. As mentioned above, the Miami metro market was the most expensive Florida market with regard to property taxes. With this said, it was still ranked #24 out of the top 50 U.S. metro markets. In other words, there are 26 other metro markets that have higher property taxes. Are you thinking about moving to South Florida? We can help. Contact Live South Florida Realty, Inc. today!
